It is no secret that the largest pool of Internet traffic comes from search engines like Google and Yahoo. There is a ton of free traffic from people just typing the search terms in the search engines that are relevant to the product or services that you are selling. The challenge is going after the free search engine traffic is often more difficult. With that said, here are 3 tips that you can use to get free traffic from the search engines.
Ise correct meta tags on your website
You should always optimize your website for the keywords of your business and target audience. All of your meta tags should also contain the key phrase. This simple step will help you get traffic that is targeted for the products or services that you are promoting. The second tip is to check your title tags as well as the description tags on all of your web pages. The titles of your web pages should contain the keywords that were researched in tip one. And the content of your web pages should contain the keywords that were researched in tip one. These two steps do take some time to do properly but are well worth it in the long run. See the next paragraph for more information on each of these tips and how to use them to get the desired results from the search engines.
Build backlinks to the web pages that you are trying to promote
Building links back to those pages are arguably the easiest way of getting traffic from the search engines. The challenge is finding enough already existing backlinks to your website. With that said, there are many ways of building the links and therefore trust that your website needs. You could sit in front of your laptop and make several comments at forums that allow you to link to your site. You can also submit articles to article sites like EzineArticles that allow you to link to your site in the resource box. You could also communicate with other online business owners who also have websites and customers by getting to know them through online chat rooms or forums and then sending them an email with your website URL. Your best bet is to either invest some time or money into using a link building service. Currently, numerous online services offer the service. They generally run between $10 – $20 per month.
Monitor your progress
For you to know if the efforts you are making with the search engines are going to earn you a living, you need to monitor the data by collecting, tracking, and analyzing the data. Currently, the tool is available that can help you with this process, and one of the most popular and powerful tools that are currently being used by many online marketers is Google analytics. See the next paragraph for more information on how to use Google analytics.
Using of opt-in marketing
You can use a process called opt-in marketing. This means you set up a signup box (actually a funnel) that will bring people who clicked on an ad to your site. Then you give them 2 or 3 opt-in emails to follow up on your list.
A funnel is like a funnel cake. It looks like an enormous log with a hole in it, and you throw your ingredients in it. You pour your cake so that part of the funnel cake Bakes into the hole in the funnel. Then you pull back out the other end and outcomes your product or service offering.
The analogy works well in the real world. Organizers know that Stats always take into consideration when making decisions about organizing activities. In the real world if you want traffic then you need visitors, yet another important fact is that you then need people to buy your products or avail of your services. You need both aspects of life to make money.
How to attract traffic to your site
Now back to the business. You have to get people to come to your site and buy your products or services. But just from coming to your site people have to like your products or services to keep coming back for more. That is why it is called traffic to your site.
So now you have to sell your traffic to your traffic. In actuality, a good funnel will not sell you to everyone who visits your site. It will sell you only to those persons who like your products or services enough to buy them.
This leads us to the most important of all – your product or service has to be appealing. And this is not always done by simply throwing a bunch of words together that you can get ranked for. Good Organic search engine optimization is done by generating a phrase base of customers that are interested in your products or services, right from the start.
In other words, you go to Google or Yahoo, and search for the broadest possible phrase related to your product or services, like “Firearms Training”. That is a great example of a broad phrase. In the large ocean of competition that is the Internet, a broad phrase is almost impossible to rank well.
However, if you make a list of ten or twenty words that are not so broad, but describe your product or service, then you have a chance of getting ranked somewhere in the top ten or twenty results. You go to Google or another search engine and type in the words. Voila! You will find that in the large majority of cases, there are hundreds of sites that feature that exact phrase.
So if you use that rich keyword base in your article or blog post, then you could potentially drive a lot of traffic to your site. It isn’t clear to me that this would be disadvantageous as there would be a lot of sites using that same broad keyword base that might not feature your specialized phrase.
Build the keywords base correctly
However, is it merely that enough for you to write a good article or blog post? Yes, only if you also plan on directing traffic to a particular blog or website, because the results could be localized too if you only know the area where you want to target. You could search on Google for the broadest phrases related to your area, and then if you want, drive traffic to that site. From a search engine perspective, it would be very difficult for a broad phrase to rank well, but it could be very powerful in terms of driving local traffic to your area.
From a user perspective, if you know your topic or product area very well then you could prepare content containing some of those keywords. For example “firearms training” could be one of your keyword phrases. On the other hand, you may know there are lots of visitors to a competing site that sells long-distance walking sticks, so you wouldn’t want to use a keyword phrase like that.
Another thing you’ll want to do is research the keywords that are used for research purposes. This will narrow down the selection of keywords to those that are more likely to be chosen during that search. After you have selected your topic you could even take the type of keyword tool and narrow the variety of keywords you want to include.
So as you can see, developing a keyword base structure is very important if you want to drive targeted traffic to your website.
